Big Lap RallyCross, May 18, 2003A slight variation on the autocross timed-lap racing concept, rallycrossing takes the timed lap to the dirt. In effect, it combines the challenge of rally driving with a more traditional configured-track setting. The Big Lap RallyCross was the second half of a two-day event presented by Northern Lites Rally, starting with the Big Lap VII rally through northern New Hampshire. Competitors were invited to participate in both events, with the RallyCross event taking part in the parking lots of Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH. Seeking to gain more experience (and get the chance to race), Carmine Sarno and Adam Martin chose to put their Eagle Talon TSi through its paces in the RallyCross event. The goal was not victory but experience, and the experience of dealing with an ever-changing track and an off-road setting will prove invaluable for the future. Thanks to Carmine and Adam for stepping in to help with the still camera while I manned my video camera during selected laps. All trademarks are the rights of their respective holders.
